Rare Diseases NSW is pleased to share the Sydney Film Festival premiere of You Look Fine, a compelling documentary exploring the realities of living with Sickle Cell Disease.
Sickle Cell Disease is a rare inherited blood disorder that affects millions of people worldwide. While symptoms may not always be visible, people living with the condition can experience severe pain episodes, fatigue, organ complications, frequent hospitalisations and significant impacts on everyday life. Too often, individuals face misunderstanding or disbelief because they “look fine” on the outside.
Through powerful personal stories, You Look Fine challenges misconceptions about invisible illness and highlights the resilience, advocacy and lived experiences of people and families affected by Sickle Cell Disease. The film offers an important opportunity to increase awareness, foster empathy and encourage conversations about equity in healthcare.
Rare Diseases NSW acknowledges the outstanding work of Australian Sickle Cell Advocacy and its Founder and Executive Director, Agnes Nsofwa, whose leadership and advocacy have helped bring this important film to Australian audiences. Through education, awareness raising and community support, Australian Sickle Cell Advocacy continues to champion improved recognition and care for people living with Sickle Cell Disease across Australia.
